Why material and surface treatment matter most

For metal fencing, the two decisions that drive service life are the base material and the surface treatment. A fence exposed to coastal salt, industrial pollutants or constant hand-contact needs a different specification than an inland boundary fence.

We work across four base materials. Galvanized steel and carbon steel are the cost-effective default for most perimeter and highway projects. Stainless steel is specified where corrosion resistance is critical; aluminum alloy where weight and natural corrosion resistance matter (e.g. coastal or portable systems). Every material is then finished with hot-dip galvanizing, powder coating or electrostatic spraying depending on the environment.

Because we are an OEM manufacturer, fence height, panel dimensions, mesh opening, post structure and pattern are all driven by your drawing or project requirement — there is no single "standard" fence, only the right specification for the site. See the custom metal fencing product page for our supply envelope, MOQ and lead times.

Common custom fencing types

Fence form follows function. The four most frequent project types each optimize for a different priority — security, traffic safety, visibility or rapid deployment.

01

Zinc steel fence

A galvanized steel substrate with a duplex (zinc + polymer) coating, combining corrosion protection with a clean colored finish for commercial and residential perimeters.

  • Surface: Galvanized + powder/polymer coat
  • Best for: Commercial, residential, school boundaries
  • Height: 1.2 – 2.4 m typical
  • Advantage: Long color life, low maintenance
02

Highway anti-glare fence

A continuous screen mounted on the central reserve of roads to block oncoming headlight glare, typically perforated or mesh panels on a steel post line.

  • Surface: Galvanized, often dual-sided
  • Best for: Highway medians, expressways
  • Height: 0.6 – 1.0 m typical
  • Advantage: Improves night driving safety
03

Sports field fence

Galvanized and powder-coated mesh fence around stadiums, courts and training grounds, engineered for ball impact and spectator separation.

  • Surface: HDG + colored powder coat
  • Best for: Stadiums, courts, parks, schools
  • Height: 3.0 – 6.0 m for pro venues
  • Advantage: Impact-resistant, visible
04

Temporary fence

Quick-deploy galvanized panels with coupling clamps and stabilizers for construction sites and events, designed for repeated install and removal.

  • Surface: Hot-dip galvanized
  • Best for: Construction, events, crowd control
  • Height: 1.8 – 2.1 m typical
  • Advantage: Reusable, tool-free assembly

Fence type selection at a glance

Type Priority Typical height Primary application
Zinc steel Aesthetics + durability 1.2 – 2.4 m Commercial / residential perimeter
Highway anti-glare Traffic safety 0.6 – 1.0 m Road median
Sports field Impact + visibility 3.0 – 6.0 m Stadiums, courts
Temporary Rapid deployment 1.8 – 2.1 m Construction, events

Standard parameter ranges

Typical ranges for our custom fencing production. Exact dimensions are set by your drawing or site layout — all parameters below can be customized.

Parameter Standard range / options Notes
Fence height 0.6 – 3.0 m Up to 6.0 m for sports / pro venues
Panel width 2.0 – 3.0 m Matched to post spacing
Mesh opening 50×50 – 200×200 mm Smaller = higher security / privacy
Wire / tube diameter 3.0 – 6.0 mm (mesh); 25–60 mm (post) Post size scales with height
Post size □40×40 – □60×60 mm Thicker wall for taller fences
Rail 25×25 – 40×40 mm Top/bottom rails per design
Surface treatment Hot-Dip Galvanized / Powder / Electrostatic HDG to EN ISO 1461 for outdoor
Applications Perimeter, highway, sports, farm, temporary OEM per project requirement

Mesh opening and wire diameter together set both visibility and security level. For perimeter security, 50×50 mm or 75×75 mm welded mesh with 4–5 mm wire is common; for highway anti-glare, a perforated or finer panel is used to block light rather than climb.

Galvanizing vs powder coating

Both protect steel outdoors, but they solve different problems. Many projects use them together as a duplex system for maximum life.

Treatment Corrosion protection Color options Best for
Hot-Dip Galvanizing Very high (zinc barrier) Metallic grey only Structural, coastal, industrial
Powder Coating Medium–high (over primer/HDG) Full RAL range Architectural, branded, visible fences
Electrostatic Spraying Medium Full RAL range Indoor / light outdoor, cost-sensitive
Duplex systems last longer: A hot-dip galvanized base with a powder-coated top coat routinely outlasts either treatment alone, because the coating protects any cut edges and the zinc sacrifices itself at scratches. For coastal or high-pollution sites this is our standard recommendation.

How to specify your metal fencing

Use this decision tree to turn a site requirement into a manufacturable specification.

1

Identify the application

Factory perimeter / security → Zinc steel or welded mesh. Road median → Highway anti-glare screen. Stadium / court → Sports fence (tall, impact-rated). Construction → Temporary fence. Farm / livestock → Galvanized field fence.

2

Choose material

Inland, cost-sensitive → Carbon / galvanized steel. Corrosive or coastal → Stainless or aluminum. Visible architectural → Zinc steel with color coat. Match the material to the service environment first.

3

Select surface treatment

Outdoor structural → Hot-dip galvanizing (EN ISO 1461). Colored / branded → Powder coating, ideally over HDG (duplex). Indoor / light → Electrostatic spraying.

4

Send drawings and dimensions

Provide fence height, panel width, mesh opening, post and rail sizes, gate requirements and site layout. We return shop drawings, a quotation and export packing plan.

Need help with specification? Send us your site layout, required height and a reference photo or drawing. We will propose material, surface treatment and post structure, then quote. Request a technical consultation.

Frequently asked questions

What types of metal fencing can you manufacture?

We manufacture customized metal fencing including zinc steel fences, road separation fences, highway anti-glare fences, sports field fences, temporary fences and other systems based on project requirements. Fence type, panel form and post structure are selected per application.

Can you manufacture fencing according to our drawings or specifications?

Yes. We support OEM and custom manufacturing based on customer drawings, dimensions, specifications, reference photos or project requirements. Fence height, panel dimensions, mesh openings, post structure and patterns can all be customized.
